Tears of Rage - starting with Quentin Letts's splendid evisceration of Theresa May in the Daily Mail

The Mail's political sketch-writer started Wednesday's article this way:
Prime Minister’s Questions left me hoping the Conservatives lose the next election – lose it so badly their buttocks sting – and that Jeremy Corbyn, with whom I disagree on almost everything, becomes Prime Minister.
Having summed up Mrs May's wretched performance as "No fun. No verve. No imagination..." Letts ended his piece with this stirring call to arms:

Monday muppets, monsters and marvels - transgenderism, paedophilia, Hoillywood sex dungeons and, er...Brexit

Damn! Yet another of life's little pleasures I'm going to have to forsake:
I suppose that's NFH - i.e. Normal for Hollywood. Here's how they tested helmets back in 1912:

Our mad, mad, mad, mad, faux-compassionate, progressivist world - a snapshot

This Guardian story may be the most tragic piece of news so far this year:
HALT BREXIT NOW! Mind you, if the Guardian isn't worrying about childcare, it's celebrating the joy of not having kids:

Andrew Klavan on how conservatives need to take a leaf out of the Trump playbook - and challenge the Left's narrative

One of my favourite conservative commentators, Andrew Klavan, has produced a brilliant article for the PJ Media website, entitled Trump Moves the Narrative Football. Klavan isn't a fan of Donald Trump (he has called him "bad", "petty", and "a little man"), but, unlike many of The Donald's non-admirers on the Right, he does wish that more traditionalist conservative politicians would learn some lessons from the guy. For instance, following the controversy surrounding the decision by the American football player, Colin Kaepernick, to show contempt for his country by refusing to stand during the national anthem, the NFL has finally bowed to pressure by making it compulsory to stand during the anthem - any disloyal wankers who have a problem with that can skulk in the dressing room until it's over. One of the most vociferous critics of...

Resist the terrifying mind-altering experiment being conducted on us by aliens from Planet Zob!

I began exploring the following theory in response to a number of comments on a recent post - and then (doh!) forgot to post it. So here it is, slightly rejigged:

They walk among us. They look like us and talk like us, and they give every impression of having our best interests at heart - but their goal is to destroy us. They've realised that the greatest weaknesses of those of us fortunate enough to live in Western democracies are a desire to feel good about ourselves and a longing to be thought well of by others. Armed with these insights, they've set about convincing us that what we know to be true is not only false, but wicked. By exploiting our good manners - our desire not to offend - and our addiction to feeling morally superior, they've gradually replaced (to paraphrase Thomas Sowell) what works with what sounds good.

I hate it when people whose work I admire - like TV comedy scriptwriter Graham Linehan - reveal themselves to be leftie cockwombles

I loved the comedy series, Father Ted and The IT Crowd, both co-written by Irishman Graham Linehan, who also worked on other personal favourites, such as The Fast Show and Brass Eye. As Father Ted and Brass Eye frequently satirised both old-fashioned conventional attitudes and political correctness - the creed followed by scaredy-cat modern conventionalists - I'd always assumed that Linehan would be a non-virtue signalling political agnostic. I even followed him for a while on Twitter. Then, in the lead-up to the Brexit referendum, he revealed himself to be a standard-issue,  humourless, arrogant, intolerant leftist of  the worst sort - the sort who believes that (as he himself said) “If you’re not Antifa, what the hell are you? Anyone with any morality at all is Antifa,” and who, this last week, has been demanding that the fund to enable Count Dankula to appeal against his conviction for "grossly offensive" speech be shut down - because the bounder is evidently a neo-Nazi waycist!...

Idiocy and wisdom - what the world looked like this week

Fortunately, London Mayor Sadiq Khan's tireless - and no doubt fabulously effective - efforts to sort out knife crime (see previous post) haven't prevented him from addressing an issue which is really important to all Londoners:
Open to knife-crime, host to diverse terrorist sects, full of hope (that this useless little creep won't be mayor after the next election), not in the least fearful of being stabbed, mugged or burgled...

Theresa May - the "nanny state" social justice warrior in No. 10

I suspect many - perhaps most - right-wingers and conservatives (and quite a few centrists and left-wingers) are so horrified at the thought of the Four Horsepersons of the Apocalypse (Jeremy Corbyn, Diane Abbott, John McDonnell and Angela Rayner) taking charge of the country...

Modern politics is like The Archers - you take a break from it, only to discover that nothing has changed

I'm hoping someone turns this parody cover into an actual book in time for next Christmas - what a brilliant stocking-filler!
After a three-day hiatus...

Corbyn's response to a request to pick his favourite Matt cartoon tells us everything we need to know about today's Labour Party

The country's funniest cartoonist, Matt Pritchett, joined the Daily Telegraph 30 years ago this week. As part of its celebrations, the Telegraph asked political leaders from the past 30 years to choose their favourite Matt cartoon (some had already bought the original drawing of a particular favourite when it was first published). Here was Jeremy Corbyn's response to the request:
What a boring, joyless, petty, mean-spirited bunch of odious little wankers. Here are a few suggestions for Corbyn and his "team":

"Collateral" - Six and a half years on, I ask the same question: "Why Is My Licence Fee Funding Rubbishy Propaganda by David Hare"

Carey Mulligan - what a waste of her talent
About 20 minutes into the first (and, for me, the final) episode of the BBC's new conspiracy thriller, Collateral, written by the revered left-wing playwright David Hare, a number of thoughts struck me simultaneously:...
