At last, your chance to do the 2015 Chiswick Book Festival Anniversaries quiz - it'll make your brain hurt

The answer to one of the questions
The annual Chiswick Book Festival took place last month (I warned you all about it here) - and it was, as it usually is, a roaring success. For the past few years, as one of the fund-raising activities surrounding the event, I’ve been asked to come up with a literary quiz which attendees can enter for a pound (or three, or five - it seems to change every year). They’re given a few weeks to complete it, the marks are totted up, and the winner is awarded a prize - usually a book or books donated by a publisher or local bookshop. The first time we did this, back in 2010, the quiz was held as a running accompaniment to a dinner. It fell into abeyance for a couple of years, but was revived in paper form in 2013, when the subject was James Bond. I did a First World War literary quiz last year, and this year I was asked to go with literary anniversaries, because 2015 is stuffed with them.

Chiswick Book Festival James Bond Quiz winner announced! See how you match up

I was volunteered by my wife to set the 60 questions for a James Bond quiz for last month's  prestigious Chiswick Book Festival. People were charged a hefty £5 to enter, and the first prize was a first edition hardover copy of Thunderball. Entrants had two weeks to complete the questionnaire. Because it's so easy to look stuff up on the web - and because the event attracts a very savvy crowd, I knew I had to make the quiz sufficiently difficult to ensure that we weren't swamped by contestants who'd got every answer right.  But I couldn't make the questions so obscure that no one would be willing to fork out £5 to enter. In the end only one person got all of the 78 marks available (real all about him here) - actually correcting two of my answers in the process!

My name is Scott, and I'm a quizaholic

There’s nothing quite like a quiz evening for revealing the gaps in one’s general knowledge. Mine tend to be of the ”coach and horses” variety. I’m pretty damned impressive on anything that happened between 1955 and 1997, after which it all gets a bit hazy. That was the year I left TV News and gave up reading a stack of newspapers every day and began to avoid news and current affairs programmes altogether.

2013 Chiswick Book Festival James Bond Quiz - the answers

Here are the answers to the James Bond Quiz. If you've reached this first without first going through the one that features the quiz without the answers, and would like to have a go, click here. As I explain there, the quiz is finished and a winner has been announced, so you'll be playing for the sheer fun of it. And now - the questions again, with the answers below. Only one entrant got all 78 points, one got 76 1/2, and the next got 63. Good luck!
