Entering a local newsagent's about ten years ago, I was appalled to hear two behooded, suspiciously middle class-looking teenage boys noisily addressing each other in the ugly, aggressive, clipped tones more usually associated with members of semi-feral, multi-ethnic, working class yoof gangs - I began to think of it as "Innitspeak", because practically every utterance seemed to end with the ejaculation, "innit!".  After that, I became conscious of it all around me. I felt a pang of regret for what the writer Pat Barker called the"parrot cheeriness" of traditional Cockney, which Innitspeak - known for a while as Jafaican - seemed to be supplanting, as white working-class Londoners continued to flee the capital. I wouldn't have minded so much if what was replacing Cockney hadn't sounded so unattractive and so deliberately unfriendly. But it seems I may have been too pessimistic...

I became aware of Twitter's attitude to right-wing snark-meisters a few years ago when Old Holborn used to disappear on a regular basis, only to pop up under another, similar name - but "Britain's vilest troll" appears to have learned how to play the thought-police's game. America's alt-right twitterati felt the mighty force of the platform's disapproval in 2016 (the actor James Woods stopped tweeting for a while in protest, but his splendidly splenetic fellow-thespian Nick Searcy kept on swinging). Now, possibly emboldened by Jeremy Corbyn's unexpectedly strong showing at the general election and the tsunami of ersatz leftie fury following the Grenfell Tower fire, British Twitter is falling into line by suspending various alt-right/right-wing/libertarian troublemakers. This comment on Gary Linkere's eye-wateringly vast BBC salary is what earned Godfrey Elfwick - currently the funniest thing on Twitter - a ban (if fruit language offends you, please don't read it).

Britain's left-wing comedians quake as they realise "the men are coming up the drive"

Delightful news: the arrogant, lazy bigotry of left-wing metropolitan BBC comics like Marcus Brigstocke and Stewart Lee has led to some members of their audiences outside London booing and walking out of their otherwise rib-tickling stand-up "comedy" gigs, disgusted by the performers' anti-Brexit material. For some reason, the comedians' bewildered bleatings recalled the moment when, during a televised public speech, the vile Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu realised that the vast crowd listening to him in the square below were booing, not cheering, him. But that seemed a bit silly, given that the wretched tyrant in question spent decades murdering and torturing his people, rather than - as in the case of Brigstocke and Lee - using allegedly comic material on a platform provided by left-wing broadcasters to shame, browbeat, bully and embarrass anyone who doesn't share their achingly PC view of the world. So I searched for another analogy...

James Delingpole marked Christmas Day with possibly his best article of the year

There's nothing quite as exhilarating for those of us on the Right as James Delingpole pistol-whipping the virtue-signalling left-liberal enemy. His 25th December Breitbart piece was his most spirited assault in quite some time. His main theme was the tendency of leftists, in the wake of a Islamist terrorist attack, to deflect attention from the actual perpetrators of the foul deed - and from the religion which they follow - by singling out some (usually perfectly reasonable) comment made by a right-winger in the wake of the attack, and employing the tactics of "point and shriek" and "isolate and storm". The latest instance of this was Nigel Farage's linking of the Berlin slaughter to Angela Merkel's deranged immigration policy, and his subsequent spat with Brendan Cox, the widower of the murdered Labour MP, Jo Cox. Delingpole became a subsidiary target of left-wing pseudo-anger when he tweeted, "When are we allowed to say that Brendan Cox is a total arse?":

I'm getting mighty tired of the "don't change your behaviour - that's what the terrorists want" line.

I'm extremely impressed by the way left-wing compassion-mongers always know exactly what Islamic terrorists want. Apparently, "they" want us to secure our borders, instigate rigorous checks on Muslims trying to enter European countries, hunt down would-be or actual jihadists, force Muslims to accept and live by Western values (i.e. tolerance, democracy, and not killing everyone who doesn't agree with you), ban the burqa, cut off the cash supply provided by welfare payments, stop islamist indoctrination in our schools, stop child marriages, punish the systematic sexual abuse of European boys and girls by gangs of rapefugees, and imprison those who condone and carry out female genital mutilation on pre-pubescent girls. Because, you see, if we did all that stuff, it would prove that we're horrible racists, and that would incite the hordes of unemployable, sexually frustrated young Muslim men who hate the West - and whom our governments have invited into our midst - to rise up and destroy the infidel...
