Conservative Hollywood actor James Woods is as splendidly acerbic off-screen as on
James Woods turns 70 on Tuesday - but there's precious little sign of him doing much mellowing. Following his Twitter feed is a bit like watching a highlights reel of lines from his movies:

That Meryl Streep "Golden Globes" speech in full - with a sympathetic Grønmark Blog commentary
I love you all. (No you don't - you really don't. It just makes you feel good to say it.) You have to forgive me, I have lost my voice in screaming and lamentation this weekend and I have lost my mind sometime earlier this year so I have to read (Actually, you lost your mind when you agreed to appear in Mamma Mia!).
Thank you, Hollywood Foreign Press. Just to pick up on what Hugh Laurie said, you and all of us in this room really belong to the most vilified segments of American society right now. (What - you're all white, working-class Trump supporters?) Think about it: Hollywood, foreigners and the press. (Okay, I've thought about it.)...

Owen Jones's Sky News meltdown - what happens to lefties when the hierarchy of victimhood means they have to lie
Denial might not be a river in Egypt - but it does seem to run like a river through mainstream Islam. I was watching coverage of the slaughter of 50 gay Orlando nightclubbers on Fox News a little earlier (they were discussing Trump's proposal to halt Muslim immigration, while agreeing that that wouldn't have prevented what happened in Florida) when they cut to one of their unbearably endless station ident sequences. So I switched over to the BBC, where everyone was jolly upset that unofficial Leave campaigners had posted a tweet suggesting that the Orlando outrage could happen here if we stay in the EU (the moral preeners seemed to have forgotten about the Bataclan and Charlie Hebdo attacks, despite no doubt bravely posting jesusiswhatever messages on social media in their immediate aftermath). Then it was time for a live interview with someone in Orlando. I was expecting some sort of reporter update - but no, a Muslim in Muslim garb representing a Muslim organisation appeared on screen. I groaned.

Barack Obama isn’t a Muslim – but, given his implacable hostility to Christians and Jews, he might as well be
The old right-wing “Obama is a Muslim” meme has started circulating again in the last few days. Along with the claim that he lied about being born in the US, this is the charge most frequently levelled against the mysterious, affectless, disengaged alien figure who currently haunts the White House – when he isn’t attending Hollywood fundraisers, taking selfies or playing golf, that is. The point about both smears is that, while they’re extremely unlikely to be true, Obama’s behaviour often gives the impression that there could be some substance to them. Here's the evidence for the Muslim claim:

The name’s Freude – Schaden Freude: American buggers, green energy and idiotic union leaders
The news is very rarely a barrel of laughs, but I must admit that I’ve been enjoying it enormously these past few days, because three of the things I most dislike have either suffered a bit of a reversal or extreme embarrassment.

More right-wingers might be supporting an attack on the Syrian regime if...
...the President of the United States wasn't Barack Obama. He’s a lying, yackety-yack lawyer, not a war-leader, as demonstrated by yesterday’s pathetic attempt to claim – despite having been filmed personally setting Assad a red-line over the deployment of chemical weapons – that the international community had somehow set that red line. (I must have missed the bit where Russia and China enthusiastically endorsed his tough stance.)

If Obama had a son, would he look like De’Marquise Elkins, Chancey Luna, James Edwards or Javon Tyrek Rogers?
“When I think about this boy, I think of my own kids… If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.” When Barack Obama thus sought to inflame racial tensions during the trial of George Zimmermanfor shooting Trayvon Martin, I was appalled. If the President knew what he was doing by making this case all about race, it was an act of wickedness. If he didn’t realise how his comments would be received, it was an act of insensitivity at best – of stupidity at worst. Apart from giving rise to such obvious jokes as “If Obama had a city, it would look like Detroit”, I suspect it has meant that every time a case involving the murder of whites by blacks has been widely reported in the US, millions of Americans have automatically thought “If you had a son, Mr. President, he’d look like the killer”.

Obama’s latest remarks about the Trayvon Martin shooting are remarkably dishonest – even by his lamentable standards
A quick glance at the liberal MSM tells us that Barack Obama’s remarks to the White House Press Corps yesterday were magisterial, moving, thoughtful and presidential. In fact, they were mendacious, trite, shallow, logically confused, mawkish, unhelpful and deeply, deeply depressing. The black race in America will continue to top every statistic relating to social, economic and educational failure until left-wing Americans realise that it’s liberal-left attitudes and actions – not white racism - that have condemned blacks to decades of depressing and potentially irreversible underachievement.

One breakfast meeting Obama probably wishes he'd skipped
If you're a non-believer, get through the religious stuff at the start, and I guarantee you'll love the rest. It's worth it just to watch Obama's face as he grasps the fact that this guy isn't a supporter:

Obama's triumph - the people I feel truly sorry for
I switched off the TV as soon as Fox announced that the Ohio exit poll showed Obama leading by 3%. The feeble flame of hope that had sputtered into life following the first presidential debate finally dimmed and died, and I went to bed. I woke up in a depressed funk – but then started thinking about all those with infinitely greater cause to feel distraught, either immediately or over the next four years. I decided to compile a list:
