"What have I done?" - is Theresa May channeling Lieutenant Colonel Nicholson?

In Bridge on the River Kwai, Lieutenant Colonel Nicholson accepts the challenge of building a bridge in order to improve the morale of his men, to demonstrate British efficiency to their Japanese captors, and out of pride:...

Why do pro-Brexit Conservative constituencies put up with disloyal, treacherous Remainiac MPs?

I've been wondering about this ever since the referendum. For instance, a healthy majority of Anna Soubry's Broxbourne constituents - 54.6% - voted to leave, and she retained her seat at last year's general election by a mere 836 votes, or 1.6% of the total. The UKIP vote dropped by 8%, while Labour's increased by 8.1% - I've no idea whether all those voters switched directly from UKIP to Labour, but I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone who had previously voted for UKIP would be inclined to support the country's most brazenly pro-EU MP. Given that this ghastly woman seems to have spent every waking moment conniving with Britain's enemies - i.e. the unelected gauleiters of the EU - insulting Leave voters, and trying to derail the Brexit process while doing her level best to destroy her own party's already damaged credibility, I can't for the life of me imagine why her constituency association would countenance the idea of fielding her as their preferred candidate at the next election. Well, maybe they've finally had enough!

That wedding, terrorist invaders, useful idiots, Venezuela, Bercow and lots, lots more...

As Yasmin Alibhai-Brown was born in Uganda, and describes herself as "part-Pakistani", and as she doesn't appear to be all that keen on white people, it's rather surprising...

Labour's Syria policy...

And, for no reason whatsoever apart from the pleasure of seeing someone get exactly what they asked for:

Corbyn's response to a request to pick his favourite Matt cartoon tells us everything we need to know about today's Labour Party

The country's funniest cartoonist, Matt Pritchett, joined the Daily Telegraph 30 years ago this week. As part of its celebrations, the Telegraph asked political leaders from the past 30 years to choose their favourite Matt cartoon (some had already bought the original drawing of a particular favourite when it was first published). Here was Jeremy Corbyn's response to the request:
What a boring, joyless, petty, mean-spirited bunch of odious little wankers. Here are a few suggestions for Corbyn and his "team":

Chelsea Handler, the former US soldier convicted of espionage, picks a fight with Ben Shapiro. Bad move.

United States Army Private First Class Bradley E. Manning was sentenced to 35 years imprisonment in 2013 for a whole host of offences, but mainly for leaking almost half a million US army documents. While in prison, Manning made the ultimate sacrifice and opted for gender reassignment surgery - unfortunately not performed without anaesthetic by fellow-inmates - and morphed into gorgeous, pouting Chelsea.  (I wonder how she's coping with the menstrual cycle.) As he left office, Barack Obama - who evidently can't resist a transgender traitor - commuted the latest US Army poster gal's sentence to seven years (that's 80% off for...well, for being a wonderful human being, I guess). So now he/she/whatever is out and proud and tweeting. Only he/she/whatever hasn't yet learned the basic lesson that, whoever you engage with on social media, make sure it isn't the bladed weapon that is the conservative commentator, Ben Shapiro - that's like juggling with razors:

The enemy - I am literally shaking!

Meanwhile, this dork's spiritual leader - Ken Livingstone - knows exactly where the blame for Venezuela's current problems lies (you will be surprised to learn that socialism had nothing to do with it)...

Twitter suspends right-wing satirist Godfrey Elfwick for being mean to multimillionaire BBC leftie, Gary Lineker. Shame!

I became aware of Twitter's attitude to right-wing snark-meisters a few years ago when Old Holborn used to disappear on a regular basis, only to pop up under another, similar name - but "Britain's vilest troll" appears to have learned how to play the thought-police's game. America's alt-right twitterati felt the mighty force of the platform's disapproval in 2016 (the actor James Woods stopped tweeting for a while in protest, but his splendidly splenetic fellow-thespian Nick Searcy kept on swinging). Now, possibly emboldened by Jeremy Corbyn's unexpectedly strong showing at the general election and the tsunami of ersatz leftie fury following the Grenfell Tower fire, British Twitter is falling into line by suspending various alt-right/right-wing/libertarian troublemakers. This comment on Gary Linkere's eye-wateringly vast BBC salary is what earned Godfrey Elfwick - currently the funniest thing on Twitter - a ban (if fruit language offends you, please don't read it).
