Nikki Haley, the UN, Trump - and rediscovering the concept of gratitude

Nikki Haley, taking names
The main artery leading to our house from Chiswick High Road is too narrow to comfortably allow two cars to pass each other going in opposite directions. I'm far too old to indulge in Alpha-male willy-waving, so, when faced with, say, a tiny Asian woman who can barely see over her dashboard zooming down the crest of the road towards me in a bulbous 4x4, or a big red bus, or an angry-looking fat white bloke in a white van, or a glowering black man in a BMW saloon car, I either slow to a crawl, or, if a collision seems unavoidable, pull into the side of the road and let them pass. All I ask in return is a small acknowledgment that I've done them a favour - a tiny wave or a nod of the head: if I don't receive one, I feel a strong urge to turn round, chase after them, force them off the road, and rip their heads off...

I might have to revise my opinion of Gamal Abdel Nasser...

That was 1958.  Here - in an image which I find truly poignant - are three young women snapped in Kabul in the 1970s:

The reason why I don't read the Guardian, encapsulated in one headline

In case you're wondering who this race-obsessed fool is, Steven W. Thrasher...

Huge majority of Turks in Britain say "Hayir" (NO) to Erdogan - and the media keeps very quiet about it

There are approximately 500,000 people of Turkish origin living in Britain. Of those, 150,000 are Turkish nationals, while 350,000 are Turkish Cypriots. In last week's Turkey referendum on ceding new powers to President Erdogan (who has imprisoned 40,000 Turks and has had 100,000 turfed out of their jobs since last July's inept coup attempt) some 77% of German Turks voted "Evet" (Yes), while a mere 18% of British Turks (most of whom live in London) decided to support the "wankerer from Ankara". I can't vouch for these figures, because I only came across them in an unofficial Dutch tweet. The BBC reported the referendum results from the Turkish diaspora thus:

Happy Valentine's Day! Unless you think it's haraam and "a celebration of lust", of course.

It's them being so cheerful, etc. Me, I love it, no matter how tawdry, fake, commercialised, sentimental and pagan it undoubtedly is. It's part of our culture...

"Yes John Kerry, if only this orange sliver was smaller there would be peace." Dave Rubin

Yes, I know it's hard to spot, nestling in amongst all those huge, peaceful, prosperous, tolerant, liberal Arab, Muslim democracies - but...

The recent influx of Arab "refugees" really has brought out the worst in Britain's Wankerati

The only problem is this: where, exactly, would they be deported to? Morgan later made it clear that he was talking about white trash racist scum British passport holders: to someone who tweeted, "I assume you are talking about throwing out the indigenous population. That in itself is racist", Morgan responded, "No, just the white trash racist scum indigenous population."

What lovely, lovely people (hat-tip: Richard Galustian)

Ahmad al-Jaber, the ruler of Kuwait, visited Riyadh in 1939. Here are details of the gifts he received from Ibn Sa'ud on that occasion:

British Muslims are not in danger of a white racist backlash - and many more black Americans are killed by blacks than by whites. Stop telling racist lies.

According to today's Daily Express item, the hate-preacher - who fought tooth and nail for eight long years to stay in the UK before finally being extradited to Jordan in 2013 - now feels that the West is simply too dangerous for Muslims. he told his 58,000 Twitter followers "Muslims living in the West will lose. Sedition and spread of bloodshed will devour them."

Huh?

Ed West's "Is Christianity killing Europe?" - and Pope Francis's assertion that "religions don't want war - the others do"!

If you're an Anglican or a Catholic, you'll have heard the leader of your church encouraging you to take in a family of Syrian refugees. This will have resulted in a lot of soul-searching, as the reaction of most Anglicans and Catholics to the suggestion was undoubtedly, "Are you out of your freakin' mind, Your Holiness?" Being Christians, we then no doubt all felt jolly guilty about our lack of caritas (well, I didn't, but I'm not a very good Christian). The problem is that Christianity is a religion of inclusion, of universality - it welcomes everyone, even (or especially) sinners. It's a religion which offers comfort to outcasts, the despised, the friendless, the wretched of the earth: in marketing terms, that's its USP - extending the warm hand of friendship and lovingkindness to distressed immigrants fleeing a war-torn land is pretty near the top of its To Do list. But, as Ed West points out in his excellent Lapidomedia article, "Is Christianity killing Europe?", extending the warm hand of friendship willy-nilly to vast numbers of Muslim refugees (not to mention hordes of economic migrants) is proving to be a suicidal act of "pathological altruism".

Every political journalist, right now...

Meanwhile an intellectually distinguished Conservative Brexiteer spends nine minutes trying to speak truth to a spectacularly stupid, ill-mannered and ill-informed left-wing female CNN "journalist" - or, more accurately, to a biased, bigoted political activist masquerading as a television news journalist who has already decided that all Leave voters are (wait for it)... WAYCISTS!!!!!!!!:
