Laver, Karlovic and Isner - the proof that bigger doesn't necessarily mean better

That's a bit of a mean headline, given that John Isner, the 6'9" American tennis player on the left, posted this snap of himself and the 6'10" Croatian player, Ivo Karlovic, standing on either side of Rod Laver last week. Laver - as regular readers will know - is, in my opinion, one of the two greatest tennis players to ever pick up a racket. the Rockhampton Rocket used to stand half an inch under 5'8", and has probably lost at least an inch in the intervening years, given that he'll turn 75 next month. He'd have taken either of these giants in his prime - but might have a problem reaching their monster serves nowdays.

  1. I suspect that Isner and Karlovic do not use House of Fraser's internet shopping facilities?
