The Fulminators come over all late '50s "Exotica" with the steamy "Jungle Fever"

The basic track for this has been hanging around for several years, but I've never known what to do with it (apart from pressing the delete button). Then, after I wrote a recent post featuring songs with a "jungle" theme (here) and, in the process, learned some more about the musical genre known as Exotica (a term derived from the titles of two Martin Denny albums released in the late '50s), I decided that the instrumental formerly known as "Nishe" might benefit from an Exotica makeover, including some jungly sound effects. It doesn't develop, musically, and it's too busy - but I've made an effort to add some light and shade, the guitars are good, and I'm quite pleased with it.

    1. Thanks, Paul G. The main pleasure I derive from doing the music is getting the drum sounds to my liking. I know it sounds naive, but even after sporadically making music on a computer for nearly a decade, I still can't get over the fact that a keyboard and some software can sound so convincing (except for a proper rimshot effect - I can do that on the iPad, but not on my old Mac). Trying to play the guitar in time with digitally precise percussion only increases my already considerable admiration for session guitarists, who can do it to order every time.
      Are your paintings online?

  2. I am putting aside some time for the Fulminators this weekend. I'm am really behind and fear that the band and I may grow apart if I don't get caught up.

    1. I can think of better ways to spend your time at the weekend, Erik - but don't let me stop you! To save you time, The Fulminators' latest efforts are the top of the "My Music" list in the POST CATEGORIES section in the right-hand column (as a "Blogger" blogger yourself, I guess you've already figured that out).
