The painting removed from the Swedish Parliament for fear of offending Muslims and Feminists

No, honestly - it's true. Read all about it in The Commentator, here. To be fair to my fellow-Scandinavians, even the derangedly liberal Swedes think think this is crazy.

Remember how liberals used to snigger about silly Victorian prudery, even going so far as to make up stories about piano legs being covered for the sake of decency?

The Salisbury Review website has a picture of a guillotine on it, below the headline "Islam: The West Mounts the Scaffold". Struck me as a bit OTT at first - no longer!

  1. Europe will erupt in a violent political backlash to all this and then the left will be where it finds it's purest form of existence...in persecution.

They'll be right in the middle of the briar patch.

If they weren't so thick, you could call it a plot.

    1. The problem with these liberal jerks is that dealing with them is like playing Whack-A-Mole – you manage to stop one and another of the deluded fools pops up with some other daft plan. The rest of us are – who aren’t in education or the public sector – are just too busy earning our keep to kick up that much of a fuss. Public sector apparatchiks have plenty of spare time to spend following their own social engineering agenda.

I suspect that violence in European countries will result from economic rather than cultural causes. The liberal-left know this, so they keep introducing nonsense such as gay marriage and gender segregation and hate crime legislation because they know we won’t man the barricades in protest. Given the state of the French economy, and their propensity for political violence, I reckon it could kick off there before too long. As long as the UK and Sweden stay out of the Euro, the culture wars should remain bloodless. Of course, if the public here wakes up to the fact that the government is acting without its consent (nobody voted for a coalition), things could change - but I doubt if they will.

  2. On taking office, the 79th US Attorney General, John Ashcroft, ordered that the statue of Justice in the US Department of Justice be draped with a cloth in order to cover up her exposed breast. I am sure EF is better placed to advise than me but I am pretty sure that no one would ever call Ashcroft a liberal. Are you sure that the painting was not removed so as not to prompt libidinous thoughts in the minds of Swedish lawmakers and distract them from their important duties, the reason for Ashcroft's decision?

    1. I remember the Ashcroft thing but not the particulars. I know he claimed to have nothing to do with the drapes...beats me. What I do know is some pretty funny pictures have been deliberately taken of Attorney Generals in front of that statue...the most famous being Ed Meese and his pornography report. Ha.

Ashcroft may have been a prude...I don't know but, the media went after him as if they hadn't been using that boob as a gag prop for years. Hahaha

    2. The thing is once Victorian prudery subsided;piano legs could be revealed in all their glory, paintings back on the walls and statues restored to their pride of place-making sure to go easy on the clay if any missing male member has to be replaced. However,in the unlikely event of a reformation within Islam, there will be no going back. The here and now and inch by inch the future will be staked out.It begs the question could truly great works of art be lost forever.
