Take the "My Favourite Song Openings" quiz - a blast from the past

First warning: I first posted this four years ago. Second warning: If you want to test your knowledge of popular music (1953-1983), you should look away while the video is playing, because it includes a host of visual clues. The titles of the 31 songs can be found below:
Why am I repeating myself, I hear you ask? Because...

...I'd set today aside for blogging, only to realise, once I'd sat down at my desk, that my brain has gone on strike. I don't feel bad - I've been out for a brisk 20 minute walk and done a few stretching exercises - it's just that my brain is having a duvet day. With any luck, normal service will be resumed tomorrow.

Songs:
I Can Help by Billy Swan
Roadhouse Blues by The Doors
Jesus Is Just Alright by The Byrds
The Wanderer by Dion
Let's Dance by Chris Montez
Luxury Liner by Emmylou Harris
Palisades Park by Freddie Cannon
Nobody But Me by Human Beinz
Rambling Man by Luke the Drifter (aka Hank Williams)
Flip Flop and Bop by Floyd Cramer
She Cried by Jay & the Americans
California by Joni Mitchell
Baby Jump by Mungo Jerry
Hi Heel Sneakers by Tommy Tucker
I Forgot To Be Your Lover by William Bell
Summer in the City by The Lovin' Spoonful
Abracadabra by Steve Miller
Doctor Doctor by Robert Palmer
Gimme All Your Loving by ZZ Top
Jungle Rock by Hank Mizell
Truckin' by The Grateful Dead
Handy Man by James Taylor

Indian Reservation by Don Fardon
Bird Dog by Don Woody
Hanging Around by The Stranglers
The Claw by Jerry Reed
Do It Again by The Beach Boys
Hellecaster Theme by The Hellecasters
White Wedding by Billy Idol
River Deep, Mountain High by Ike & Tina Turner

If you got more than 15 without pausing the video or sneaking a peek, I'm impressed. Over 20 - wowsers! Over 25 - like me, you need to get out more. If you got all 31, I'm suffering from a split personality.

  1. 70% Score. A favourite song opening is the Jackson Browne/Glenn Frey song.'Already Gone'.

Browne , if indeed he were the lyricist, proved himself the master of the arresting opening with several songs including 'Ready Or Not' and 'Fountain Of Sorrow'

    1. 70%? As I said - wowsers! Agreed on Fountain of Sorrow - and Already Gone is pretty good - but my favourite Eagles opening is One of These Nights, thanks to that insistent bass guitar figure.
