Barack Obama isn’t a Muslim – but, given his implacable hostility to Christians and Jews, he might as well be

The old right-wing “Obama is a Muslim” meme has started circulating again in the last few days. Along with the claim that he lied about being born in the US, this is the charge most frequently levelled against the mysterious, affectless, disengaged alien figure who currently haunts the White House – when he isn’t attending Hollywood fundraisers, taking selfies or playing golf, that is. The point about both smears is that, while they’re extremely unlikely to be true, Obama’s behaviour often gives the impression that there could be some substance to them. Here's the evidence for the Muslim claim:

He feels that America is responsible for much of the unfairness in the world.

He seems convinced that the main terrorist threat to America is from far right survivalists.

He claims to be a Christian, but exhibits no interest in, understanding of, or sympathy for his co-religionists, going so far as to tell them not to get on their moral “high horse” about the horrific activities of blood-drenched Islamic terrorists.

He refuses – point blank – to use the phrases “Islamic terrorism” or “Islamist terrorism” to characterise the horrors being perpetrated by ISIS, and even refuses to describe the murder of 13 personnel at Fort Hood by the radical Islamist US army major Nidal Malik Hasan in 2009 as an act of terror – despite all evidence to the contrary – ludicrously insisting that it was instead an act of “workplace violence.”

He has made it quite clear that he despises Israel, and is so keen not to include Jews on his list of pet victim groups that a member of his administration even claimed that the terrorist attack on a Paris supermarket in January had nothing to do with the fact that it was kosher.

When ISIS beheaded 21 Coptic Christians in Libya earlier this month, Obama referred to the victims as “Egyptian citizens”, but declined to mention the fact that they were CHRISTIANS, even though their killers stated that this was why they'd been murdered.

He appears to be suffering from an extraordinary set of delusions concerning the “religion of peace”: “Islam has always been part of America’s story”; “Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism”; “In ancient times and in our times, Muslim communities have been at the forefront of innovation and education”; and how could any loyal American disagree with his view that “the sweetest sound I know is the Muslim call to prayer” (so much nicer than those horrid church bells)? And of course, we must never forget Islam’s role “in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.” And what’s so odd about an American president thunderously proclaiming that “the future must not belong to those who slander the Prophet of Islam” (of course, you can slander that Christ guy all you like)?

His administration seems to be pursuing a vendetta against Christians with a malignant zeal that would have gladdened the heart of Joe Stalin. The unfolding story of the state’s persecution of the Washington DC flower-seller Barronelle Stutzman, a Christian whose beliefs caused her to refuse a request to supply flowers for the gay wedding of a regular customer. The penalties being faced by this 70-year old woman are so jaw-droppingly harsh, so grotesquely out of proportion to her supposed crime, that reading about them genuinely sent a shiver down my spine. This is what Denny Burk, a Professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College, had to say about the affair in an artlcle for CNN, which is well worth reading in its entirety (here):
Stutzman is the Washington florist who has been sued for living out her Christian beliefs. In 2013, a long-time friend and customer came to her flower shop and asked her to provide flowers for his gay wedding. Stutzman had known this man and had done business with him for about nine years. Nevertheless, she told him that she could not participate in his wedding "because of my relationship with Jesus."
The man's partner subsequently spread the word via social media. As a result, the attorney general of Washington State sued Stutzman for violating the state's anti-discrimination law. The two men also sued her in their personal capacity and were represented by the ACLU. As a result of these lawsuits, Stutzman stands to lose her business, her home, and her personal savings. Her whole life hangs in the balance with this case.
Yesterday, a Washington State judge issued a summary judgment that went against her. Stutzman's legal team put out this statement explaining what this means:
A state judge ruled Wednesday that Washington floral artist and grandmother Barronelle Stutzman must provide full support for wedding ceremonies that are contrary to her faith.
The court also ruled recently that both the state and the same-sex couple, who each filed lawsuits against her, may collect damages and attorneys fees not only from her business, but from Stutzman personally. That means the 70-year-old grandmother may not only lose her business, but also her home and savings because she lives her life and operates her business according to her beliefs.
The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don't help celebrate same-sex marriage," said Kristen Waggoner, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, who argued before the court in December.
I’m surprised the old dear isn’t having the homophobia water-boarded out of her at Gitmo. Thank God she didn’t call her customers “faggots” or threaten to kill them, or she’d probably be on death row by now.

If, as he claims, Obama is a Christian (as he was so keen to assure American voters he was while running for election in 2008) then he has a bloody odd way of showing it. But, to repeat myself, I don’t for a moment believe he’s a Muslim. But that doesn’t really matter – he couldn’t be any more anti-American, anti-Western, anti-Christian and anti-Jewish if he were a hate-preacher at a local mosque.

  1. I know this is the sort of view usually reserved for the tin foil hat brigade but I am not convinced he was born in the USA. There are too many questions, the infamous press release about 'his' book, for example, and it would have been so easy to refute them.

I shall now get back to my Bacofoil...

    1. But even if he was born abroad, does it really matter, given all the new-found racial harmony in America, and the undeniable fact that he's made peace with the Islamic world by, you know, showing Muslims respect andf listening to their grievances and all that kind of soft diplomacy stuff?

And, stay away from the power points - that's how the mind-control rays get into your home.

  4. Talking about missing an idiot, can I be the first to ask what Colin G. Finlay is up to these days? Some one needs to fill the gap that now exists in the blog for an instant one dimensional opinion on everything and in particular for a masterly command of pre-war O level eugenics theory. Did he by any chance leave a forwarding address?
