Tory MP David Warburton pretty much nails the SNP's Westminster contingent

I don't agree with all of the...

...policies advocated by the MP for Somerton and Frome (elected for the first time in 2015 with the largest Tory swing of any constituency), but, as a state-educated former Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust Scholar at King's College, London, a former freelance composer (who was actually commissioned to write stuff), the founder of a dead trendy mobile phone business (subsequently sold to an American company), and the owner of several more recent businesses, he sounds like a politician with a proper hinterland - and he writes a mean column into the bargain. It's always a relief to hear of a Tory MP who doesn't have a background in the law or financial services - and there can't have been many MPs who were formerly serious composers (mind you, judging by Andrew Faulds and Glenda Jackson, the fewer professional actors-turned-MPs the better).

  1. Reads like he is an alumnus of the Quentin Letts school of very enjoyable bitchery.

    Good for him!

    1. Now that the Telegraph's Michael Deacon appears to be running out of steam (which coincided with him starting a restaurant column in the magazine) I'm starting to wish the Mail and the DT would arrange a transfer deal.
