Buster, the RAF sniffer dog who "saved a thousand lives", has gone to the big kennel in the sky - RIP, you splendid animal

Here's Buster in short film made at the time of Buster's retirement from active service in 2012:

The 13-year old had served in Afghanistan, Iraw and Bosnia, detecting bombs and booby-traps meant to kill British service personnel. A report on the BBC Newsbeat site (here) quotes his handler, Flt Sgt Barrow as saying, "He saved my life every day we were together. I owe him so much."

It must be hard to say goodbye to such a wonderful creature.
