The bad old days - restaurant car on a Metropolitan Line tube train, 1920s

  1. Within living memory, colleagues of mine commuting from Brighton could enjoy waiter-served breakfast on the train up to London.

    1. Well, things have changed since those days. For instance, at 10:30 this morning a fellow passenger on the Piccadilly Line was gorging herself on a Big Mac and fries plus a side order of onions: not waiter service I grant you and the stench was quite revolting but look on the bright side: the tube has embraced self-service in the delivery of food to its customers.
