How nice of Dave Cameron to apologise for Bloody Sunday!

Obviously, there is absolutely no reason at all to doubt Lord Saville’s findings: after all, we have the precedent of the Hutton Report, which rightly found the BBC guilty of unjustifiably accusing the government of exaggerating the Iraqi regime’s ability to launch deadly strikes on Western targets.

There’s no pulling the wool over these chaps’ eyes, that’s for sure!

Anyway, we are all guilty, in a very real sense. Now, can we never mention the subject again? Please? (Obviously, there won’t be any more impertinent and inappropriate probings into the activities of Martin McGuinness  - or “Babes” as former Northern ireland Secretary Mo Mowlam so affectionately called him -  which were no doubt entirely innocent, machine gun or no machine gun.)

On a related issue - public servants squandering eye-wateringly vast amounts of our money on spectacularly pointless initiatives - is there any chance that the State might sequester the whole of Lord “Jimmy” Saville’s estate when the great Supreme Court in the sky decides it can do without his services no longer?

I mean, £195,000,000!!!

Still, it’s nice to know that one’s taxes have helped to make a bunch of rich lawyers even richer. Thank God the money wasn’t wasted!
