So hate speech and physical abuse are excusable as long as you’re not white - but a white scientist poking mild fun at women isn't?

In April, Goldsmiths student union welfare and diversity officer Bahar Mustafa, who recently graduated from the institution with an MA in gender and media studies (so a fat lot of use she's going to be to society) wrote the following on Facebook about an event she was organising:
‘Invite loads of BME Women and non-binary people!! Also, if you’ve been invited and you’re a man and/or white PLEASE DON’T COME just cos i invited a bunch of people and hope you will be responsible enough to respect this is a BME Women and non-binary event only.’

Are there "loads"of binary people at Goldsmiths? (In case you're wondering what a "binary" person is, it's someone who can't quite decide whether they're male or female. Here's a tip: when you wake up in the morning, reach under the duvet and check whether you have a penis. That should settle the issue.)

Ms Mustafa also tweeted #killallwhitemen and used the charming phrase “white trash”. But that’s okay, because, as she later explained, being an ethnic minority woman means she can’t be racist. Of course, if she’d been a white woman and had tweeted #killallblackmen and had used the phrase “black trash”, she’d probably be in prison by now.  But, because she isn’t white, Bahar has clung onto her job. Being a person of colour (as we white folk now have to say) evidently means never having to say you’re sorry, and also means you get to keep your job no matter how stupid, insensitive, insulting and racist you are. Glad we’ve cleared that one up.

A similar example of cultural Marxist lunacy was on display earlier this week when a High Court judge, Mrs. Justice Pauffley, made the following illuminating comments in a case where an Indian man had been accused of beating his wife and son:
"I do not believe there was punitively harsh treatment of [the boy] of the kind that would merit the term physical abuse… Proper allowance must be made for what is, almost certainly, a different cultural context… Within many communities newly arrived in this country, children are slapped and hit for misbehaviour in a way which at first excites the interest of child protection professionals."
The principle of equality before the Law is possibly the British people's most precious inheritance. Yes, that sounds pompous, but it happens to be true. That principle has now evidently been jettisoned. Of course, we are all still equal – but newly-arrived immigrants and ethnic women are apparently more equal than others.

There should be no “cultural context” when it comes to the law. For God’s sake, we’ll be excusing honour killings and female genital mutilation and murdering gays next! When did we become so unutterably, drippingly, spinelessly wet?

Finally, Nobel laureate Tim Hunt, a biochemist at University College London, earlier this week indulged in the following vile, hate-filled rant: “Let me tell you about my trouble with girls … three things happen when they are in the lab … You fall in love with them, they fall in love with you and when you criticise them, they cry.” Wow! Is he even human? Does he deserve to live? I mean, he’s, like, worse than Hitler, yeah?

Connie St Louis, who directs the science journalism program at City University, London, and attended the conference in South Korea where Tim Hunt was speaking, commented: “Really, does this Nobel laureate think we are still in Victorian times?” No, dear – but this very distinguished 72-year old scientist made the mistake of imagining that this is still a country largely composed of rational, tolerant people with a strong sense of humour, who are able to make slightly risqué tongue-in-cheek remarks without the risk of being savaged by hordes of demented, intolerant, irrational, self-important, virtue-signalling harpies and their testosterone-deficient pseudo-male supporters.

Tim Hunt resigned this morning. Well done, Connie!

I'll break off now, because I have to visit our local Muslim baker to order a cake with the words "Gay marriage rocks" on it. If they refuse my order, I shall writhe around on the floor howling and screaming until the police arrive and arrest them. As if.

  1. Connie and her friends are indeed vile (as is Bahar Mustafa) but, unfortunately, it seems that Sir Tim is a bit of a wilting violet. Why has he resigned? Was he forced to resign by the authorities at UCL (not beyond imagination)? Or did he reckon that the abuse he was taking - and would be taking - was not worth the candle of telling his abusers to get a life? Whatever, Sir Tim won't upset the fascists of feminism again. Nor - and this is the serious result of this incident - will a large number of others. I know it's easy for me to say, but had Sir Tim exhibited a smidgeon of backbone both he and the legions of men and women with a trace of a sense of humour would have won a small victory against militant feminism. As it is, he's handed them a very inexpensive triumph in their war against men and freedom of speech.

    1. I suppose him being 72 had something to do with it - I can't blame him for not wanting to spend his eighth decade being hectored by po-faced harridans. The thing that disappointed me was that he apologised - it would have been better if he'd told his shrill misandrist persecutors to develop a sense of humour.

  2. The term "Orwellian" is perhaps overused, however...
Whenever I hear someone describing themselves as "tolerant" or "inclusive" or even "liberal" I immediately suspect that the individual will be an intolerant, opinionated, bigoted bully. Furthermore they will have little sense of humour and will be very quick to take offence, particularly on behalf of other groups.
It seems we have to display our tolerance, our anti racism or anti sexism and our right on inclusiveness and, most importantly, our willingness to accept that every culture is (at the very least) the equal of our own. I always think it's inverted form of bigotry.
As for poor Tim Hunt, for Gawd's sake what did he say that could excite such widespread howls of disapproval? He's a bloke of a certain vintage and he was trying to make a point in a light hearted way.
By the way, best of luck with the cake...

    1. The fact that Tim Hunt is noted for work which has helped the fight against cancer is neither here nor there of course. I'm sure the journaiism lecturer who disseminated his unbelievably wicked comments is of far greater worth to humanity.

Mind you, from various tweets and articles I've read by lefties, it seems that even some of them are beginning to wonder whether the shrill, ruthless, hysterical, cruel, fascistic hounding of anyone who doesn't share their rather weird views on absolutely everything may have gone a little far.

  3. Not sure whether Pauffley rhymes with 'unlawfully' or 'woefully' but she seems to have scored a double whammy. First, as you pointed out, it looks as if she is overturning 800 years of equality before the law, which I suppose is one way of celebrating Magna Carta. Second, is it just me or is there more than a smack of 'you can't expect too much of these people' in her remarks about 'communities'? I think I might find that rather insulting if I were a newly arrived community.

As for violence against children 'exciting the interest of child protection professionals'...where is the evidence your Honour? Baby P, Victoria Climbie?

    1. I agree - the Left's view of immigrants is outrageously patronising. It's as if they view them as children who are simply unable to control their impulses, or who are unable to grasp that when you're staying in sombody else's house, the owner's rules apply - and that if you don't like those rules, bugger off back to your own home.
